ATR sought on youth killed by Army

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought an action taken report (ATR) from the Defence Secretary and Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir over the death of two youth, who were killed in an Army firing on June 29 and June 30 in Bandipora. The NHRC passed this order on a petition filed by activist lawyer Radhakanta Tripathy.
Irshad Irfan Ahmad Ganai, a Class-12 student, who was hit in the head and abdomen, died in the firing. Protesting against this, villagers assembled the next day and 13 Rashtriya Rifles opened fire, killing 28-year-old Irshad Ahmad Dar.
